July On-Your-Own Training Ride p/b Castelli

  • New Belgium Brewing 500 Linden Street Fort Collins, CO, 80524 United States (map)

Castelli is supporting the training ride series in 2026. They offer a huge range of apparel options for every weather possibility we get here in Colorado. This legendary Italian company is turning 150 years old in 2026. If that is not a testiment to it’s quality and innovation, we’re not sure what else is.

It’s summer and below are some of our favs from Castelli for all those summer adventures. Hit up the Castelli site for best pricing and grab a new fit for the year.

Ride & Route Details:

The July ride is an on-your-own format because it’s FoCo Fondo month! You must fill out this waiver to participate. Grab our clothing reco’s from Castelli for summer weather (& a discount code!) below.

Complete the ride ahead of FoCo Fondo and be sure to tag us on Instagram (@focofondo) and join our Strava Club for a chance to win prizes throughout the year.

ROUTES:

Note: Acclimating to altitude and heat are similar in the body. Both also take a good amount of time. Acclimating to the heat will have huge benefits throughout the rest of your gravel season this year!

TIRES!

Tires are the easiest and cheapest thing to change on your bike to make the biggest upgrade to speed, fun, and comfort. We’ll be posting our WTB tire recommendations for each training ride based on the course. You can find these tires online or at Brave New Wheel.

The July OYO training ride routes are both a great mix of pavement and smooth roads. Pretty straight forward routes as far as road surface is concerned. They’re long, and you’ll have to do some more homework on nutrition, refuel points, and pacing, but from a tire standpoint a classic 40-45mm WTB Vulpine would be great for either long or short course. By this point you’ve seen the trends with each routes recommendations. If you’re looking for that one tire most recommended that’s good for most of the courses, maybe not ideal on those trail days but manageable, its going to be the 45mm WTB Vulpine. This is also a great choice for FoCo Fondo.
