Castelli is supporting the training ride series in 2026. They offer a huge range of apparel options for every weather possibility we get here in Colorado. This legendary Italian company is turning 150 years old in 2026. If that is not a testiment to it’s quality and innovation, we’re not sure what else is.
For rides ~30-45 degrees, layering up is key. Below are our recommended layering options for chilly rides. Warm hands and feet are crucial. Check out Castelli’s recommendations for the coldest of months below and consider picking up a piece or two for your winter wardrobe:

Note: Don’t dress for the high temp of the day or you’ll be cold the whole ride. If you think you’ll need to shed some layers, this is where a handlebar bag can come in handy.
TIRES!
Tires are the easiest and cheapest thing to change on your bike to make the biggest upgrade to speed, fun, and comfort. We’ll be posting our WTB tire recommendations for each training ride based on the course. You can find these tires online or at Brave New Wheel.
The February OYO training ride has a big chunk of Poudre Trail but also the Great Western Trail and more dirt on the long route, the short route has some fun HOA trails and double track. All of this calls for a bit more volume and dirt traction than the January routes so we’re changing the tire recommendations to a WTB Vulpine in a 40mm. This classic tire is great for 99% of Northern Colorado Gravel riding so you can also put it on and keep it on until you’ve run out of tread or need a bigger tire for those rougher routes. Also, shout out to the 45mm Vulpine. If you’re in the market for a tire that will do 100% of these routes pretty well, a tire that has volume, traction, and speed, and you’re not into changing tires as often, go bigger. You’ll be marginally slower on smooth roads but you won’t be changing tires as much for these smoother routes when the more technical and bumpy routes come up.
